Pendleton hosts a 2018 Career Fair
This week, several HOPE mentors made the trip to Pendleton to help with the 2018 Career Fair. They spent time answer questions about college, asking questions of their own in mock interview practice for mentees, and talking with them about HOPE Mentoring.
As seen on the Pendleton JCF Facebook page:
"Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility (PJCF) was honored to host local businesses for our 2018 Career Fair.
During the career fair, students were given the opportunity to visit multiple volunteers to learn about their career options upon release. Students learned about college options, career opportunities and how to be prepared for an interview.
Students were able to meet with individuals from the Indiana Department of Transportation, Anderson Fire Department, Ivy Tech Community College, HIRE with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, HOPE Mentoring and The Fuqua Institute of Beauty Culture. Students were also given the opportunity to learn about careers options as an electrician, a welder and in mortuary science.
Warden Yancey states “This was a huge event for our facility. We are very thankful to everyone who volunteered their time to teach our young men about their career options. A huge thank you to Ms. Smith and Ms. Hunter for organizing this event.”"
We look forward to another event at Logansport with a Dress Your Best workshop next week. Stay tuned!
